Navigational Data

Lilley & Gillie have been supplying Navigation Charts and Publications to shipowners for more than 100 years. The service has evolved continuously to meet the requirements of specialised vessels and trading patterns, and offers a fully computerised system specifically developed to meet the demands of the ISM Code.

Annex 13 of the MCA publication - Safety of Navigation - Implementing SOLAS Chapter V which superseded MGN 57 states that each magnetic compass required to be carried by the regulations shall be properly adjusted and its table or curve of residual deviations available at all times.

Lilley & Gillie grouped with its sister companies, DPM (UK) Ltd. and DPM (Singapore) PTE Ltd., has the second largest turnover of BA charts & publications in the world. Lilley & Gillie does not sell charts at the lowest price. It has ex-Navigating Officers in key positions, and possibly due to this, our stated objective is to:

Offer the lowest overall cost for ensuring customer's vessels meet SOLAS and the ISM Code requirements to carry up to date charts and publications for the current voyage.

The system can be customised to allow for individual requirements of shipowners and managers, but the primary function will be to ensure that the vessel always has on board the most up to date charts and publications for the areas in which it is operating, and is provided with the latest corrections and supplements. Once arranged, the service requires minimum action from ship managers, and includes auditing functions required by the ISM Code.

One of the unique features offered by the Lilley & Gillie service is the 'loop' that ensures two way communication between ourselves and both the ship manager & vessel.

Our Chart Management Services website has been designed with customers to ensure they have access to despatch information with tracking facilities, information relating to the indexes onboard and auditing functions. A 'Lite' version of the site is also available, based on recommendations by INMARSAT to enable users connecting at low data-rates to access important information easily without lengthy and expensive download connections.

There is no additional cost for the chart management service. We charge only for charts, publications and tracings supplied.

Our chart staff are highly experienced, and many have been serving officers at sea. This experience ensures that the system operates smoothly and successfullyand meets the customers requirements. Lilley & Gillie was the first British Admiralty Chart Agent to achieve Quality Accreditation to ISO9002 and continues to lead in the quality of service offered.

An online section of the Chart Management Services was launched in 2003. Information is updated every 24 hours, and the system assists ship managers with their auditing responsibility and provides global access to the latest information on each of their vessels’ charts, publications, corrections and despatches.
