Package options
Survival Skills Team Building Day
- Guests arrive and are greeted with tea, coffee and hot bacon
rolls
- Guests are briefed on the day’s activities
- Guests are then split into groups and are introduced to the
Survival Skills Trainers
- Guests will walk down to the woods where they will take part in
an ice breaking exercise which will concentrate on perceptions.
This ice-breaker gets the team thinking outside their initial
understanding of what resources are around them in the natural
world
- Shelter Building – using branches,
bracken, leaf litter etc the group must construct
a safe and rainproof bivouac. They will then test the shelter by
standing inside it whilst
team mates throw buckets of water over the shelter to simulate a
short downpour!
- Forest Furniture – each group must
create a table, which can hold up a large container
of water and a chair which genuinely is comfortable to sit in. This
is typically done with
forked branches and flexible sticks. This will be a natural
progression from building
the shelter in terms of techniques. Teams will also have to make an
adjustable pot
holder for the fireplace which will eventually get used to make a
hot drink for everyone
- Depending the weather, lunch will be served either outside on
their tables on inside
the barn. The lunch provided can either be cooked by the team or
provided by the chefs
- Friction Fire Lighting – each member of
the team is given a short explanation of how
to use a piece of the bow drill equipment. The teams must set about
creating an
ember from which trainers will guide them safely in order to get a
fire established and
then to use their pot holder
- Basic Hunting Tools – hunting sticks
will be made and then thrown at targets
representing animals.
- Review of the event then back to the barn for tea with
home-made cakes.
